Dean D'Angelo
Specialist Industrial/Campaigns Officer
Dean has been at the SDA for over 10 years. In that time he has worked to grow the union, represented members in enterprise bargaining and in individual member cases. He has driven a number of campaigns including to increase penalties for customer abuse & violence, and to introduce Workplace Protection Orders in Victoria.
Dean began working when he was 15 as a storeman in a wine and liquor storage warehouse, where he spent 6 years. He also has experience working at IGA in the grocery department doing evening-fill.
He started at the SDA in 2015 and spent almost 4 years as a Casual Organiser working to grow the union and help members to resolve workplace issues. He then moved in to the WorkCover team, representing members at the Workplace Injury Commission.
Dean graduated with degrees in Law and Arts from La Trobe University in 2018 during which time he developed a passion for industrial relations and employment law. He was later admitted as a Lawyer and has worked as an Industrial Officer at the SDA ever since.
In his current role at the SDA he represents members in enterprise bargaining to secure improved wages and conditions and also represents members in cases against their employer in the relevant tribunal or court, including in the Fair Work Commission.
He is also responsible for the coordination and implementation of industrial campaigns run by the branch and nation-wide campaigns.
Dean has served on the SDA’s Branch Conference and State Council since early 2025.
