SDA International Women’s Day 2024

Kathy Cannon, delegate of Officeworks Narre Warren, received our 49th SDA VIC Branch International Women’s Day Award.

Starting as a hairdresser, Kathy transitioned to Officeworks where she has served for the past 16 years.

Influenced by her father’s union involvement, Kathy joined the SDA immediately, starting as a Health & Safety Representative and has progressively moved through the union ranks. She presently serves on the SDA State Council and National Council

Kathy’s dedication as a representative of her fellow work colleagues, as a unionist and SDA member is commendable, earning her recognition for outstanding contributions to the union movement.

Kathy is proud that her union can help not only retail workers, but hairdressers and beauty therapists. She says, “They had no one to look out for them before the SDA”.

“SDA helped me with legal issues when I was stuck.”
– Jesse Smith, Member since 2017
