Counselling & Warnings

Some members may find themselves in a situation where their rights are not being upheld. They may be counselled in a manner which is harsh or unjust.

I advise all SDA members to read the InfoPage because knowing the correct procedure on counselling and warnings will ensure you are treated fairly.

The SDA accepts that an employer may legitimately interview and counsel an employee to assist them in their work.

Counselling is a positive action designed to raise an individuals' performance and ensure that they understand the relevant policies and procedures.

But a counselling session is a two-way discussion - not an interrogation for alleged breaches of policies or procedures.
